1.CLOSURE

A closure is a lace section at the top of a wig that creates the illusion of a natural scalp where your hair is parted. Common closure sizes include:

2×4 Closure: narrow parting, most affordable option

2×6 Closure: longer parting, popular choice

5×5 Closure: larger lace area, allows deeper and wider parts, more versatile

Other sizes include: 4×4, 6×6, 7×7 etc

2.FRONTAL

A frontal is a lace section that stretches from ear to ear across the front of the wig, it offers maximum styling versatility, multiple parting options and the ability to wear the hair pulled back. Frontals require more maintenance than Closures.

Common Frontal options include: 13×4 frontal, 13×6 frontal

3.DONOR, RAW HAIR, VIRGIN HAIR

Donor Hair simply refers to human hair collected from a person (the donor). The term “donor” describes where the hair comes from, not its quality or whether it has been processed.

Raw Hair is 100% human hair collected from a single donor that has not undergone chemical processing. It is known for:

  • Its most natural appearance and best for creating different colors
  • High durability and longevity
  • No chemical processing or texture alterations
  • Premium pricing due to its rarity and quality

Virgin Hair is 100% human hair that has typically been steamed processed to create & achieve different uniform hair textures. It is known for:

  • Longevity with proper care
  • Soft, natural texture
  • The ability to be colored, bleached, curled, or straightened

4. SINGLE DRAWN (SD), DOUBLE DRAWN (DD), SUPER DOUBLE DRAWN (SDD)

The terms describe strand length distribution which means how full the hair is from the top (weft) to the ends.

SINGLE DRAWN (SD) hairs contains hairs of many different lengths just like how our natural hair grows, it is usually full at the top but gradually gets thinner towards the ends, Perfect for budget buyers and natural looks with lighter volume.

DOUBLE DRAWN (DD) hairs are fuller than single drawn hairs, many of the shorter strands are removed and their ends are full and appear more even from top to bottom compared to the single drawn hairs, best for achieving fuller look without breaking the bank.

SUPER DOUBLE DRAWN (SDD) is the fullest option, with the hairs full from top to bottom they have more strands that usually give premium quality, Even Super Double Drawn hairs are not made up of strands that are all exactly the same length. They still contains few shorter strands because it is real human hair. The difference is that most of the shorter strands have been removed, making the hair look much fuller overall. SDD Hairs are generally the most expensive due to the extra labor involved during production compared to the SD and DD hairs.

AT BU HAIRS we highly recommend SDD Hairs to give the best quality look.

5. HAIR TEXTURES

One of the first things you’ll choose when buying a wig is the hair texture.

Hair texture simply means the natural pattern or appearance of the hair, Choosing a texture depends on the look you want and how much styling you’re comfortable with.

Some Hair Texture include; Straight (Bone Straight, Natural Straight, Kinky Straight) Body Wave, Deep Wave, Pixie Curls, Burmese curls, Bounce, etc

6. GRAMS (g)

The grams of a hair simply refer to the weight of the hair or how much hair is used to make a wig, one important thing to understand is that wig length plays a major role in how full the wig will look.

Many people compare grams without considering length, but the truth is: the longer the wig, the more grams needed to maintain fullness

A 14 inch 200 grams wig may look full and thick because the hair is shorter, But a 26 inch 200 grams wig will appear scanty because the hair is stretched over a much longer length, which is why longer wigs require more grams to keep the same balanced look from top to ends.
